My participation in CWEA for the past 7 years has allowed me to be involved with numerous professionals in the wastewater industry. It has been rewarding to be involved both as a member and local Board officer.
I was recently honored to win the 2013 local, State and WEF Laboratory Person of the Year award. The recognition of my career accomplishments by my peers and colleagues was an outstanding achievement. I am very passionate about this industry and in particular about safeguarding the environment and public health. Having the recognition by CWEA for my contributions in my specialty was a career highlight!
Having won the award gave me the opportunity to reach out to my local community. I’ve been able to talk about the enormous benefits of membership, obtaining certifications and serving in leadership positions. CWEA allows industry professionals, like myself, to really highlight the industry to future leaders. My employer sees the value and importance of this outreach and interaction because of the projected rate of retirement in the next few years.
There are numerous benefits, both professional and personal, that keep me involved in CWEA. The reward is really in being involved with industry leaders in my profession and having access to tools so I can be successful. I know CWEA has definitely given me that opportunity!
